  1. Yes, the last night was exciting. I used the 20% – risk level. The Drawdown was high (over 500€). And in the end I have won only 35€.

Now I have reduced the risk.

  2. Robert, what were the entry and exit prices of your 4 trades?.

Most of my accounts had 4 trades – all short, the first 2 closed around net break-even, and the second 2 had a combined positive profit, depending on positive slippage.

Megadroid closed all 4 trades on a spike, so slippage could have been a factor with your result.

  3. Richard,
    my trades (GMT time):
    2015.01.21 21:19:19 sell 1.15988 close 2015.01.21 23:35:20 1.16268 -28 pips

    2015.01.21 22:21:18 sell 1.16110 close 2015.01.21 23:52:19 1.16167 -5.7 pips

    2015.01.21 22:21:44 sell 1.16118 close 2015.01.21 23:35:22 1.16272 -15.4 pips

    Total: -41.3 pips

    My Settings: Risk level 0.2
    Margin Level (21:19:18) about 98% (!)

    Strange.

  4. Hi Robert,

It looks like the loss happened because 2 of your trades closed out early for some reason:

    2015.01.21 21:19:19 sell 1.15988 close 2015.01.21 23:35:20 1.16268 -28 pips
    2015.01.21 22:21:44 sell 1.16118 close 2015.01.21 23:35:22 1.16272 -15.4 pips

23:35 on your broker server is 18:35 EST time.

If you look at the chart I attached, you’ll see that the EUR/USD moved up sharply around this time i.e 19:35. That’s when your trades were closed out.

One possible reason is that your margin levels were too low when you had 2 floating negative positions, causing the broker to automatically close out those trades. So maybe your position sizes were too big relative to your account size, or maybe your broker had recently reduced it’s leverage because of this recent market instability.

  5. Hi Richard,
I thought that the MD doesn’t open next position if Margin Level is dangerous.

Richard, how you set the risk level?

Ron, you set all the time the risk level of 0.08? You set a lower risk when volatility is high?

  6. Hi Robert,

I personally adjust the risk level so it trades 2-3 mini lots on each account. I trade 10 accounts so I have a total of 25 mini lots (or 2.5 full lots) spread over 10 accounts. I don’t compound – I use the same size.

Megadroid can lose over 150 pips on a single day, so I just make sure my lot size/account balance is enough to endure any large drawdown i.e. won’t margin call.
