A question for Richard? As to 2.3 pips profits on your FXCM account, I was wondering if you were paying commissions on MD trades.
My 2 FXCM accounts don’t have commissions. They include the commission in the spread,
No trades for me since 7/5 on LCG
Strange how only my FXCM accounts have got trades recently. All my other accounts are definitely running – just no signal.
Last trading on May 13
Hi Richard,
Back to the spread and commission structure on your FXCM accounts, I did not know FXCM offers accounts that include the commission in the spread. I was wondering if these types of accounts were available only for international traders.
As is, I am paying a $8 round lot commission. Compared your MD results with mine, I do not see any justification to pay a $8 round lot commission. If I were to open a FXCM account like yours, how should I proceed, please?
As always, thanks a lot!
Hi Michael,
Best to just ring FXCM and ask them if you can change to a non-commission account. My accounts aren’t anything special. Just standard accounts.
Your commission is effectively adding 0.8 pip cost per trade, but by doing that you’re getting lower spreads.
In theory, lower spreads with a commission based account, should result in better performance, because fill prices should be better, so take-profit and break-even targets will be hit earlier, reducing the chances of a large loss.
BUT in practise lower spreads don’t necessarily mean better execution prices, as you’ve discovered. This is because these orders are MT4 market orders, with no slippage control. It’s entirely up to the brokers dealing desk software as to whether they fill you at the spread, or slip you 0.5 to 1 pip or more, negating the benefit of the advertised lower spread.
I got on JFD Brokers (commission based) the following trades on 19.05.2015
EURUSD – BUY – 1.11452 -> 1.11504 – 5.2 pips
EURUSD – BUY – 1.11452 -> 1.11476 – 2.4 pips
Here no trades on MD from long time on both Activtrades and Hotforex. This evenung FOMC minutes so we can expect some risk
Hi Richard,
Again, thank you for your very useful information, sharing your knowledge and experience with us!
Hello Richard
do you know how to understand if/when the remote safety mode has been active ?
I mean in case I want to know that after it has been removed.
Thanks a lot
Alberto
No trades for me on Tues 26th.
Hi Albe,
Not sure if can tell after, unless something is written to the MT4 log file.
